"Education truly can change a person’s story, it gave me everything. Whatever happens, get an #education"_Atiku Abubakar.
Education is a very necessary tool in building ones self-confidence; one who lacks the audacity of making some certain decisions should simply get an education which apparently is the only solution. When we were much younger, our parents used to tell us that "education is the key to success"; In as much as this may not be the truth in entirety, neither were they totally wrong, because, one who has acquired quality education has a very low odds to being successful; but, without any fear of contradiction, it isn't a sure bet in a country such as ours(Nigeria) where it is based on who you know in most cases, and that has being a major set back to the development of our dear country. We depend so much on sharing the national cake(returns from the sales of crude oil) which has become sole such of our national income.

With education, the world will be like a table in a living room where we can see and access everything; but, it is quite unfortunate that most of us have depended so much on formal education which the only thing we have to show for it is a certificate other than "sabificate", we have smart phones that is more smarter than we are, we buy big phones just to take selfies, subscribe to a data plan to have internet access to upload those photos on instagram, Facebook et all; subscribe to cable TV and end up watching just Telenovela, Televista, African Magic et all neglecting self education which is paramount to developing ones intellectual muscles. Little wonder why our country is in a mess, we all seem to know the problems, but, the solution is far from our reservoir of ideas even after spending virtually more than half of our years on earth in school, and this is because, of our greed, even those who are well educated and are in a position to make things workout don't want to do so, they hoard knowledge for their selfish interest; the only part of education growing fast is the religious aspect because, it's being thought in our local dialect that is for those that can't read and write in English language, yet, we are still far behind in terms of love for each other when compared to countries with less muslims and Christians; we also need to be educated that we are better together, and living in a country totally free of insecurity, hatred, freedom from being engulfed in ethno-religious sphere implies living in a country free of discrimination, corruption.
I believe, if we can lay more emphasis on teaching in our local dialect as it's being done in other developed countries of the world like China, France, Italy, England and many more, we will go a long way; how long do we keep depending on this so called advance countries of the world, and all we think of is how we can be like them not realizing that if we keep emulating them illogically, we will always be behind; Why can't we be independent even after many years of the so-called independence? Our young lads should be thought from the day they start attending classes to learn to be innovative other than cramming for the sake of that result which they told us that if we don't get we can't be successful in life; this is pure deceit aimed at wrecking the country of it's future to stand with other developed countries of the world, because, all we do here is to go to school, acquire that certification, get a job on a payroll without contributing anything positively to the technological advancement of our dear country, rather you have joined the chain of liabilities to our only source of revenue which is obviously petroleum, everybody wants to work in an oil company, neglecting agriculture which they see as a way of life of some ethnic group, and it's not so, it is a major source of revenue and a huge wealth creating sector in some other countries and apparently in Nigeria of those days. we must learn to go back farms to end poverty in Nigeria, growing our own food and gradually from subsistence farming to farming for import; "Diversification" has being the most misused word in Nigeria politics, as every gov't personnel both past and present and perhaps the next will continue to use it to cater away with votes and apparently, public funds if care is not taken.
We need to realign ourselves with not just the trends, but, with the future, in other to move fast and meet up or probably, even overtake all these countries we so much admire and desire to be like.
This is the type of education we need and not the one we are given.
